Horizontal directional drilling (HDD) is a cutting-edge trenchless technology used in the civil/utility construction industry that allows for maximum installation efficiency with minimum surface ground disturbance.
HDD is a steerable method of installing underground pipes, conduits and cables that avoids large-scale ground disturbance and is ideal when natural or man-made objects make traditional trenching impractical. The drilling rig is mobile, can be set up in many different environments, and launches from the existing ground surface, requiring minimal site preparation to use. The drill bit can be steered along shallow arcs, enabling the operators to steer around, under and over existing objects and utilities located along the prescribed bore path with incredible precision.
Continued commitment to directional drilling puts it at the forefront of our business, resulting Newhook Trenching becoming a premier drilling company in the shallow utility industry in southern Alberta. Currently we have a fleet of nine directional drills in a range of sizes which allows us to meet our clients’ needs and to function effectively regardless of ground conditions.
